‘We are indeed much more than what we eat, but what we eat can nevertheless help us to be much more than what we are’ - Adelle Davis
A nutritionally balanced diet throughout life is the key to promoting good health in your pet.
At Weardale Vets we stock a range of prescription and non-prescription diets. Some diets are specifically created for various medical conditions others are designed for different life stages, matching a pet’s food to what’s needed at different ages.
To get the nutrition they need for growth puppies and kittens should be fed puppy/kitten food until 12 months of age or for larger breeds of dogs, until they reach adult size.
Senior food is designed to reduce load on kidneys and other organs and has lower calories to match the more sedate level of exercise that comes with age. You would change to senior food from 7 years onwards.
‘Neutered’ diets are specially designed to prevent weight gain following neutering whilst still satisfying your pets hunger.
If you are unsure as to which diet would best suit your pet we will be happy to advise you.
If your pet is happier with a pet food that we don’t hold in stock we can order it for you. This will be available the following week day.
